The newly restored Bürgenstock resort complex above Lake Lucerne includes the celebrated Palace Luzern hotel, three new hotels, a conference facility, luxury residences, sports and wellness parks, and tourist attractions. We proposed a wayfinding system that would give the diverse facilities of this extensive site a shared identity, and foster a more unified guest experience.
The use of brass, chosen for its historical associations and its ability to harmonize with diverse building materials and architectural styles is the unifying theme throughout the site. Pictograms indicate tourist attractions for international visitors. Freestanding panels ensure easy wayfinding at all times of day, and in all weather conditions. The team also proposed expanding the family of corporate fonts with a typeface that legible from a distance.
